Importance of sound
Soundscape Terminology:
- Ambient Sound - The background sounds which are present in a scene or location
- Diegetic Sound - Sound which is visible on the screen or in a film to audience
- Non-Diegetic sound - Sounds which characters can hear
- Score - Music composed for it
- Song - A short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung
- Voiceover - A piece of narration in a film or broadcast, not accompanied by an image of the speaker
- Dialogue - Usually a conversation or phrases that are said
- Foley - Sound effects after the shooting of a film
- Synchronous - In sync with an object
- Asynchronous - Deliberately not in sync with an object
- Sound Bridge - Transition connections between sounds or music
- Sound Motif - Recurring piece of music
