Task 6 - Analysing fim title sequences

The first title sequence I analysed was ‘Lolita’ created in 1962. The reason I chose this one is because the opening title sequence is quite vague – in a sense that it doesn’t give a lot of hints or clues of what it’s about. However, due to the sound of Lolita – it’s quite classical setting a tone of perhaps happiness? Moreover, throughout the whole title sequence, there's a small foot which is placed into a big hand – possibly showing a mother figure as they are applying nail polish, also it is all in black and white. Due to the opening credits, they introduce the producers and directors before they introduce the character names, making it more interesting so that the audience will want to know who's in it.

The second title sequence I looked at was 22 Jump street. This title sequence was very different in comparison to Lolita. This is because, they’ve included scenes from the film within the title sequence. I believe this was done to give an insight to the audience of what it’s about, the genre and the fact that you get to see the characters.  This title sequence immediately sets the tone with the sound and music used too; it’s very vibrant and non-diegetic. Also, they make some parts switch from normal to animated which I think is quite cool. Due to the titles, there is a huge use of titles on still and moving images, this gives a hint at the type of genre it can be about, the titles are accompanied by images and the images are accompanied by music.
