Task 21 - Evaluation of remake

Practical Evaluation Remake

Group 6 decided to do the remake title sequence of a horror film named 'Gone Girl.' For this remake, we had quite a bit of work to do - practically and written. We had firstly planned, then filmed and eventually edited this remake piece.  In order to be as successful and organised as possible, we had planned by shot listing and storyboarding the title sequence. We also had to use a range of shot types that were convenient for our genre, then edited using premier pro and added titles using after effects.

Noting and storyboarding the shots was a frustrating thing to do. This was due to the fact that we had to have the exact shots within the same time frame, the same shot angles and similar locations. We had plotted this all on a storyboard, which was bit time consuming considering we only had 1.5 hours to film the whole remake. Also, locations for the filming weren't very tricky as they were very easy to find similar shots around the area. I think the locations were successful for that reason, but could've been a lot better if we had alike locations and angles. Due to the costumes, we were not prepared for this and this therefore was a downfall, however didn't seem to affect the title sequence as much.

When it came to the editing process, creating title credits was an easy thing to do. This is because in the original sequence, the font sizes, colours, placings were very simple and easy to re-do. We ha no problem in doing this. When we decided on our font, typeface and size of titles; we wanted to try keep it as similar as possible to gone girl - therefore we used nearly similar title conventions.

I also think replacing the title credits was easy too. We had the similar font, and used the gone girl title sequence as a guide - in which we placed our titles on our title sequence in the same places. Many of the titles stood out as there was many moving images and pictures in the original title sequence.

As a whole, I think our final piece looked good and had a good outcome similarly to the original gone girl. However, if i were to do this task again, I would plan everything out exactly how it has to be - as finding locations with little planning was time-consuming.
