Rough Cut Evaluation

Rough Cut Evaluation

For our final piece of title sequence, we have decided to do a 'drama' genre. This is because as we looked around our classmates and other media students, we have come across the majority of people doing either thriller/horror genres. Therefore we wanted to stand out from others and do a completely different title sequence.

Looking at the shot types, I believe that we have used a variety of shot types, these include: over the shoulder shots, close ups, extreme close ups, low angles and medium wide shot.

Here is a variety of shot types used in our rough cut.

With the location, we tried our best to add in a variety of locations, where as its a dramatic title sequence, we thought that one or two locations will seem too dull. As a group we thought the best way to keep the storyline clear is to add in some locations. For example the location at the mosque connotes that our character is clearly a Muslim.

Here is the locations we included in our rough cut, these are: Constructed area, Central London, Mosque, Office and House

Looking into our props we didn't use many, we only used the relevant props which will be suitable for our title sequence.

Our props consist of a office telephone, folders, Syrian newspaper and housing props

Looking into the costumes we tried to make it realistic. Our main character had to wear two costumes, during her past was dressed like a homeless, and during the present she was more of a formal person, with smart clothes. Our councillor had to wear smart clothes due to trying to make everything realistic.

There was also match-cuts used to distinguish between the past and present day of her life.

This is a match-cut scene of the older sister losing her little sister. This match-cut was effective because it connotes, "loss" which is a theme in our title sequence.

However looking into the footage, it was blurry therefore we have to film some scenes again. Also as it is a emotional dramatic title sequence our characters tried to play their best role as they can. The 'Refugee' played a consistent role of trying to be unhappy. The councillor played a racist role and seemed dis-engaged with her job and not helped the 'Refugee'
