EVALUATION
Chosen Film:
For our remake of the title sequence of the film "Gone Girl", it was simple to note down each shot because just after we discussed within our group, we immediately noted it down roughly to help us during filming. This helped us a lot during filming as it saved time and kept us prepared.
Stoyboarding:
It was also easy to storyboard each shot because we did the same thing with storyboards as we did with the shots. We noted it down as soon as we decided what we did for each one. This made sure we didn't lose the idea after.
Setting:
As the location of the "Gone Girl"'s original title sequence is quite regular and casual, we also made the decision to keep it casual. The characters in the title sequence is wearing casual clothes and the rest of the title sequence is shots of houses, boards and rivers. For that reason, we took our shots locally as we were able to find locations that are similar to the original one nearby. There was no need to go to any far locations.Titles:
The title credits were easy to do because in the original title sequence, there is no fancy font or colours used but a simple white font over moving images. Hence, the title credits were not difficult to do and also didn't require a lot of time.
Titles' Style:
When deciding the font, typeface and size of titles, we chose to make the original font, typeface and size of titles to make our remake as similar as possible to the actual one. At the beginning, the common titles on a black screen is used which we then recreated the same way and then when the video started, titles over moving images appear which we also recreated. That was the advantage of remaking as we did not have to create our own style.
Was the choice of font successful?
The choice of font was very successful because it perfectly matched with the font of the original title sequence. It does suit the tone of the film because it's very quiet and slow pace which is represented by the simpleness of the font.
Was the placement of titles successful?
The placement of the title credits were also successful and there were enough space to fit the titles in. The software allowed us to resize the title however we want which made it easier with the placement. The titles are contrasting because it's white which stands out from the moving images in the background.
What would I change?
If I were to complete this task again, I would change the costume because although it's casual, I would want to have a costume that gave hints about the genre of the film. Also, I would change the voiceover at the beginning because it's not clear on this one and it is hard to hear the pronunciation of words.
