Task 28 - Analysing Sound

Duality

After the distribution company has been shown, there appears to be some heavy drone sound effects which is then followed by ambient sounds such as birds singing, the leaves dancing in the air and the sound of the lake running. Shortly after, there is also a loud ambient sound of the fireplace. As the decoration of cups are shown, there are non-diegetic sound effects such as the heavy breathing. Moreover, the Foley sound of the clock ticking was slowed down so that it matched the clock's pase of the hands ticking. Later on we hear more heavy breathing followed by the sound of low teeth chattering which was slowed down to create a dramatic effect. After the cup is shown, we hear diegetic sounds of the tea dripping which appears to be louder in the sound mix. Then, the camera pans right to the bunkbeds next to the little girl in there is a loud deigetic sound of her crying. The scene ends with a quiet, diegetic sound of the tea dripping. The girl is then grabbed with the sound of a high, wind blowing effect which then gets lower as the title "Duality" is shown.


Shutter

As the girl is shown, there is a loud, Foley sound of hearbeats followed by  a sinister score. Then, as the car is being driven, there are ambient sound effects of the car and the sinister score gets higher. We then hear the sound of the camera shutter as the car plate is being shown. There are then more ambient sounds of the car doors being locked and a loud Foley sound of a bang, sounds like a door being shut closed. The loud banging sound effects and the Foley sound of the heartbeats continues until the Walkie Talkie is shown, in which the creepy score gets louder and we hear a conversation going on between the two people. The siniser music continues as the title "Shutter" is shown, followed by a Foley sound of a camera shutter.
